Ameneh Mottaghi, as an Iranian researcher, writer and public lecturer, has moved to Montreal, Canada in 1991 after many years of studying and teaching in Iran. In August 1999 she moved to Toronto where she and her husband, Dr. Mesbah Moosavi , founded the the largest Iranian mosque by the name of Islamic Iranian Center of Imam Ali. It became a place for thousands of Iranians to refer to for their social, cultural, as well as spiritual activities.
Ameneh Mottaghi, as a dedicated person in charge of cultural activities, is also involved in helping families during times of crisis and family disputes. Furthermore, she continued her cultural and religious activities in different forms such as participation in a number of conferences, writing articles, and giving public lectures. Working with Iranian and Muslim communities in general, Ameneh Mottaghi was inspired to found Hoda, a bilingual magazine. She noticed how the mainstream media is not portraying the true image of Islam and how there is no Shia Islamic resource available to respond to the disquieting doubt and inquiries of people, potentially leading to identity crisis of our youths of today. Taking the responsibility upon herself, Ameneh Mottaghi realized the necessity of publishing a Islamic Shia magazine for all to be able to reliably refer to for their questions. To date, several issues have been published with many more to come, God willing.
